Inspired by the memory of his father, Moctar Sow, “the man he respected most in the world”, this artwork belongs to the unfinished series entitled “Thanks”, which was created as a homage to the great men who, according to Ousmane Sow, “helped him never despair of humankind”: Victor Hugo, Nelson Mandela, Toussaint Louverture, Charles de Gaulle and Man and child.
In an unfinished state are: Mohamed Ali (aka Cassius M. Clay), Martin Luther King and Gandhi.
Inspirée par le souvenir de son père, Moctar Sow, “l’homme qu’il respectait le plus au monde”, cette oeuvre appartient à la série inachevée intitulée “Merci”, et comprenant Victor Hugo, Nelson Mandela, Charles de Gaulle, Toussaint Louverture et L’Homme et l’enfant, réalisée en hommage aux grands hommes qui, selon Ousmane Sow, l’ont “aidé à ne jamais désespérer du genre humain”.
Sont restés à l’état d’ébauche : Mohamed Ali (alias Cassius M. Clay), Martin Luther King et Gandhi.
